Suddanly Basenjis
About Us

Dr. Sue Campeau has owned basenjis since 1984.  She and her husband of 29 years, Dan, began training dogs at 12 years old, as soon as they were allowed in the classes.  Sue had a Samoyed and Dan had a collie.  Dogs have been a part of their lives ever since.

When they met in college, they knew it was a match and married while still attending Michigan State University.  At MSU, they both earned bachelors degrees in animal husbandry. This education and experience provided them with the background they needed in animal genetics, nutrition, breeding and management that they still utilize today.  Sue raises and shows basenjis and Dan raises and shows Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs. (They say opposites attract!)

Later, Sue went on to be a science teacher, and after 10 years, returned to school and became a chiropractic physician.  Dan works for the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service.

Dan and Sue reside in central NC on 5 acres with their basenjis, Swissies, various rescue dogs and a small herd of goats to keep the grass short.  Many weekends are spent at dog shows and field trials.

We would be happy to meet you. If you would like to visit and meet the dogs, give us a call.  If you live too far away,  we may be at an event in a area near you!

Ya'll come over and set a spell.

Doing what we love.
